Nurturing Craft, Supporting Creativity
Founded in 1984, ANTA was born from a simple yet powerful vision: to champion and support exceptional Scottish craft and design. This commitment to craftsmanship and ethical production is something we carry forward to the next generation. Through our in-house training programme, we nurture the artisans of tomorrow, passing down traditional skills and methods that have defined us. We’re passionate about further expanding this commitment and are excited to open our doors to new and emerging artists.
The ANTA Artist in Residence Programme provides contemporary artists and makers with a unique opportunity to deepen their craft within the setting of a thriving Scottish business. Our residency offers a working studio environment where visiting artists can immerse themselves in their specialist area while contributing to our dynamic team. During their time with us, artists will have the chance to bring fresh perspectives to key areas of our business, from production and marketing to design.
Residency projects are varied, ranging from collaborative product design and photography direction to digital content creation. Artists will also gain valuable exposure to product production and customer service, allowing them to explore the intersection of creativity and commerce in a real-world context.
In exchange, we offer free accommodation, studio space, and access to production equipment, including our kiln and sewing machines, all set in the stunningly inspiring Fearn in Ross-shire. Time during the residency is flexible, as long as projects are completed within deadlines and the artist contributes 21.5 hours a week to ANTA-specific activities. Both full-time and part-time residencies will be considered, with a recommended minimum stay of six weeks up to three months.

Calls for 2025 submissions have now closed, but we encourage you to revisit after the Autumn. The next residency will commence in June 2026. To apply, please email your submission below.
Include a link to your portfolio (either your website or Instagram page) along with a statement outlining your specialist area of work, your influences, and why this residency appeals to you.
Artists will stay in a studio flat adjoining the factory, with studio space provided. All artists will be asked to contribute 21.5 hours per week to ANTA projects, and a schedule of working briefs will be shared ahead of the residency. A salary of £600/month will be paid directly for the duration of the residency.
Please note, travel, subsistence, and materials for personal projects are not included.
